The SHSAT LPX - Max Test Practice is a structured and effective way to prepare for the New York SHSAT (Specialized High Schools Admission Test) and excel in the test with high scores. Students may practice SHSAT questions any number of times all the way till the test in October!
SHSAT LPX covers all parts of the test: ELA, paragraph development, reading, open-ended math questions and multiple choice math questions.
SHSAT LPX consists of over 3,000 SHSAT-style questions in 120 Question Sets (QSets):
-- 30 QSets with reading passages.
-- 20 QSets with ELA questions covering short passages, paragraph develpment questions and ELA / grammar questions.
-- 20 QSets with vocabulary questions to improve reading comprehension.
-- 10 QSets with open-ended math questions.
-- 40 QSets with multiple-choice math questions.
(On sign-up, 10 QSets are available for practice in the user's library. More QSets are automatically added to the library every week based on the progress. The LPX also includes 2 mini online practice tests which will be added to the account library in August.)
SHSAT LPX Test Practice has been meticulously created using the same successful and result-oriented methodology practiced in Sam School courses which have helped hundreds of students to get high scores in standardized test and admissions in specialized high schools (such as the Stuyvesant High School, Bronx Science High School, the Hunter College High School and the Thomas Jefferson High School) in New York, Virginia and other places .
The SHSAT LPX does not include full length practice tests. Some questions may have 5 multiple choice answers instead of 4. In addition to SHSAT-style test practice questions, the LPX also includes some QSets to review and improve the basic math skills of the student. The LPX may also include vocabulary practice questions to improve the reading comprehension skills of the student.
The SHSAT LPX covers the following topics:
ELA: Punctuation, sentence structure, revising/editing sentences, sentence errors, combining sentences, sentence agreements, paragraph development, topic sentences, vocabulary, and more.
Reading comprehension: Reading passages on a variety of subjects.
Math: Open-ended and multiple-choice math questions covering numbers, decimals, fractions, ratios, proportions, percents, work problems, algebra exponents, evaluating expressions, equations, basic functions, algebra word problems, radicals, probability, geometry coordinates, shapes, area, circumference, linear equations, circles, and more.
The SHSAT LPX is for 7th grade students in the academic year 2023-24 rising to 8th grade in the academic year 2024-25 who will be taking the SHSAT in New York in October / November 2024.
This LPX will also be useful for 8th and 9th grade out-of-city/state students who will be taking the Summer SHSAT - usually scheduled in August.

Upon registration, students may start taking the LPX Test Practice at any time, from any location in the USA or other countries, using any compatible PC, laptop or large-screen tablet. Small-screen mobile devices are not suitable for LPX Test Practice.
Access to the SHSAT LPX - Max Test Practice ends at 11:59 p.m. on November 17, 2024. The registered students can practice / re-practice all the way till the access end date.
